Sharon Flores, alias La Pelos, and her three-year-old son were shot dead on Sunday, November 1, during Day of the Dead celebrations in the Morelos neighborhood of Mexico City. The attack took place as the young woman was taking her child to ask for “calaverita.” Both died from their injuries, according to journalist Carlos Jiménez, who specializes in crime reporting.

The attack and the victim's identity
According to information released by Carlos Jiménez, the woman was riding a scooter with her son and a friend when she was shot. After the attack, police took the victims to Balbuena Hospital, where they died.
The communicator said Sharon Flores belonged to the Unión Tepito, the criminal organization to which the father of her child, Marvin Pacheco, also belonged; he was killed in 2023 while she was pregnant. In a post last July, Jiménez accused the woman of extorting merchants in the Cuauhtémoc and Venustiano Carranza boroughs on behalf of the Unión Tepito. According to the journalist, she would arrive with three or four individuals, and merchants who refused to pay were abducted and tortured.
The journalist also noted that Sharon had been arrested for the third time five months earlier, in June, but was later released. On that occasion, according to Jiménez, she went with three individuals to extort a family.
The alleged attacker and the investigation
In a post on his X account, Carlos Jiménez reported that José Luis Rodríguez Rivera, alias El Huevo, a member of the Anti Unión Tepito, allegedly committed the double homicide. The communicator stated that El Huevo is the cousin of the murdered woman.
Jiménez indicated that witnesses to the crime identified him as the attacker, and that therefore the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Mexico City Attorney General's Office (FGJCDMX) were already after him.
“Broncas, díganles que es recio. Jajaja por perros y pendejos unos mueren con su propia arma. Ya no está él pero voy recio jajaja, no salen de su perra ratonera par de miedosos,” reads a screenshot of a social media status allegedly belonging to La Pelos, in which she appears with a pistol.
In another of his X posts, Jiménez showed images of Sharon Flores crying at the grave of her partner, Marvin Pacheco, killed in 2023. In the photo, the woman is pregnant.
The context of the Anti Unión Tepito
The Anti Unión Tepito is a criminal group originating in Mexico City, created around 2016. The exact origin of the group is unknown, as one version says it began as a self-defense group to fight the Unión Tepito and other smaller organizations. However, it is also believed that when Roberto Moyado, alias El Betito, came to lead the Unión Tepito, several members split off to form the Fuerza Anti Unión, which led to competition between the two groups for control of territory, involving them in criminal activities such as extortion, kidnapping, and contract killing.
The double homicide of Sharon Flores and her son occurs in a context of dispute between criminal cells in the Tepito area and neighboring neighborhoods. Authorities have not confirmed the arrest of El Huevo, while the SSC and the FGJCDMX continue investigating to clarify the motive of the attack and find those responsible.
