Three men accused of belonging to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) were arrested in Puebla's Unidad Antorchista neighborhood during a joint operation by the state Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the Navy Secretariat and the state Attorney General's Office (FGE). Authorities say the trio handled logistics and distribution for a cell of that criminal organization.

  • Detainees: Carlos N., 30; Iván N., known as "El Tartas," 28; and Francisco N., 27.
  • Alleged roles: coordinating logistics for distributing illegal substances and finding properties to serve as meeting points.
  • Seized items: more than 280 packages of drugs, a firearm, two magazines, 39 rounds of ammunition and a vehicle with Guerrero plates.

The operational profile authorities describe

Investigators say the three men coordinated logistics for distributing illegal substances within the criminal structure. They also were tasked with locating properties that could serve as meeting points for other members of the group.

Authorities further stated that the detainees took part in violent acts tied to the cell's activities. That mix of duties — distribution, property logistics and violence — shaped the operational profile the institutions attributed to the arrested group.

Two of the three detainees have prior criminal records. According to the information released, those records involve crimes against health, firearms possession and property offenses.

Drugs, weapons and a vehicle with Guerrero plates

During the operation, security forces seized more than 280 packages containing substances similar in characteristics to methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana.

The seized material also included weaponry. Authorities reported finding one firearm, two magazines and 39 usable cartridges at the intervention site.

They also seized a vehicle bearing license plates from the state of Guerrero; its presence in Puebla is among the elements gathered during the proceedings. All seized items were placed at the disposal of the appropriate authorities as part of the investigations opened against the three detainees.

Federal and state coordination against criminal cells

State authorities framed the arrests within a coordination scheme between federal and state institutions. The joint participation of the SSP, the Navy and the FGE was presented as part of efforts to combat organized crime in the state.

According to the information provided, the operation aims to weaken the operational structures of criminal groups active in Puebla. Intelligence work and the strategic deployment of security forces were cited as central pillars of this strategy.

The state government said it will continue such coordinated actions. The SSP indicated that, together with federal and municipal authorities, it will maintain firm operations against criminal cells operating in Puebla, with the goal of preserving the tranquility of Puebla families.

The CJNG is among the criminal organizations recorded as active in Puebla territory since at least January 2025. State Public Security Secretary Francisco Sánchez González acknowledged that month the presence of that organization, along with the Sinaloa Cartel and La Familia Michoacana, as well as local groups engaged in illicit activities.

Before the November 2 arrest, the SSP had already reported captures linked to the CJNG in the state. On August 31, 2026, the agency announced the detention of three men identified as suspected cartel members, tied to high-impact crimes in the metropolitan area.

The organization also maintains a presence through operators with influence in several states. Security and Citizen Protection Secretary (SSPC) Omar García Harfuch reported on October 13, 2026, the arrest of Iván "N," known as "El Tanque," in Zapopan, Jalisco, whom he identified as a CJNG regional operator with criminal influence in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Jalisco and Puebla.

Capturing the leaders of these structures does not necessarily mean the end of the organization, given the possible replacement of commanders and fragmentation of cells that continue operating under the same name. In Puebla's case, the blow to this logistics cell adds to a series of earlier arrests, while authorities keep their investigations into the three detainees and the seized assets open.
